๐ Understanding NPS Rules
- At retirement (age 60), you can withdraw 40% of corpus tax-free (lumpsum).
- Remaining 60% must be used to purchase an annuity that provides regular pension.
- Annuity returns are taxed as per your slab at the time of receipt.
- Under Section 80CCD(1): Employee's own contribution up to 10% of salary (Basic+DA) – max ₹1.5L overall 80C.
- Under Section 80CCD(1B): Additional deduction up to ₹50,000 for NPS (over and above 80C).
- Employer's contribution up to 14% of salary is also tax-free (not considered here).
